Hot rolled steel involves rolling the steel at high temperatures, whereas cold rolled steel is processed further in cold reduction mills where the material is cooled followed by annealing and/or tempers rolling. It has better surface finishes: smooth and shiny surface that is free of rust and scale. It also has greater strength than hot rolled steel, suitable for high stress applications.
Application: automotive manufacturing, electrical products aviation, precision instruments, and food cans.
